In Paxton fashion, she says go big or go home! As some of you know, Pax has had a troublesome hoof abscess that has been resistant to the usual treatment of soaking and wraps. On Wednesday, we transported her to the Myhre Equine Clinic in NH for surgical intervention. Tomorrow is surgery day!! We (Paxton and I) are asking for your support for this one of a kind mare, to get through this surgery and back to the work that she loves. Paxton has done it all--competing with her human "mom", Mary Jordan who raised and trained her--first in 3 day eventing and then in paraequestrian dressage and since retiring from competition, she has been at two therapeutic riding centers, but has called RTT home for the past 9 years. We are so grateful that Mary donated Paxton to RTT, and are grateful that Mary is still a big part of her life, keeping tabs on her and visiting her while she has been hospitalized! Paxton has helped countless riders (and volunteers and staff!!) and is a farm favorite!! We don't take hospitalizing a horse or doing surgery lightly, but in conjunction with our vet, as well as what we see everyday with this beloved chestnut, we know that Paxton has more work to do, more people to help, more lives to change. Any help is appreciated!
