Help us enhance health and wellness

Equine assisted activities and therapies for children and adults with disabilties.

At Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center (RTT), children and adults with disabilities work together with horses, volunteers and certified instructors to improve their health and wellbeing.

RTT is an inclusive community where everyone gives and receives, teaches and is taught. The 50 acre farm is a place of healing, learning and joy.

Each week up to 100 children and adults from more than 45 towns in southern, central and mid-coast Maine (as well as a number of towns in eastern New Hampshire) come to the farm to experience the healing power of horses.

RTT is internationally accredited by PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) as a Premier Accredited Center and offers programs that include therapeutic riding, equine assisted learning and therapeutic carriage driving. We are Maine's only year-round PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center solely dedicated to serving people with disabilities.

Our clients are individuals with a wide range of disabilities that include but are not limited to cerebral palsy, brain injury, autism, learning disabilities, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, emotional disorders, Down syndrome, developmental delays and sensory integration dysfunction.

Over 60 volunteers assist with lessons on a weekly basis. We provide an orientation and initial training for all volunteers. Additional training includes topics related to equine care and management, disability awareness, horse and human movement and more.

We have a great herd of equines who make our programs possible. Our horses and ponies have a range of sizes (miniature to draft) and movement characteristics (smooth, choppy and percussive gaits) that we work with to meet the varying needs of our clients.

Every gift matters every day at RTT. We receive no state, federal or municipal funding and over 60% of our riders require some level of financial assistance in order to participate.

Please contact us at info@ridingtothetop.org if you are interested in more information or would like to arrange a time for a visit.
